Pooh's Corner, Inc. is an on-site Early Childhood Center located at the Capital District Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, O.D. Heck Campus, in Building 10, Schenectady, NY. The Early Childhood Center was established primarily to care for the children of OPWDD employees and secondly for children of other New York State employees. Further vacancies are then available to Pooh's Corner, Inc. staff, siblings of children already enrolled and the surrounding community. 

The Early Childhood Center was incorporated in 1986 as a not-for-profit business. The Early Childhood Center's day to day operations are overseen by the Administration Team, which consists of an Executive Director and Assistant Director. Early Childhood Center policies are developed by a Board of Directors, which convenes monthly. The Board is comprised of OPWDD and NYS employees, Center parents, and other interested parties. Pooh's Corner, Inc. is licensed by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) to care for children between the ages of 6 weeks through 5 years; and is inspected by this licensing agency regularly.

Our main goal is to provide a safe, warm, and nurturing place for the children we serve. The Early Childhood Center also strives to provide a developmentally appropriate program, which provides for all areas of development: physical, cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and aesthetic. The Early Childhood Center will provide a creative and loving environment where children can explore a variety of interesting materials. Early Childhood Center Staff will interact with the children in a positive and responsible manner. The Early Childhood Center recognizes that the major responsibility of raising children rests with the parents. The Early Childhood Center Staff will strive to strengthen and enhance this relationship, and encourage parent participation in our programming.
